What We Keep, and Why
News Trial collects only what its reader features need. This page says what that is, why we keep it, who sees it and how to have it removed.

What we collect
Story submissions: whether it is news or a feature, the name and contact details you choose to give, and the text you send.
Fact-check claims: the link or description you send.
Newsletter: your e-mail address, your language and the page you signed up from.
Sign in with Google: the name, e-mail address and profile picture Google shares with us, and the stories you open while signed in.
Read counts: each time anyone opens a story, that story’s count goes up by one. Nothing about you is attached to it.
On your device: the stories you have read, your theme and your language stay in your browser. To fill the For You rail your recent reads are sent with the request and used once, not stored, unless you are signed in.
Why we keep it
To review and publish what readers send, to put claims on trial, to keep the newsletter list, and to choose stories for your For You rail.
We do not sell or share any of it, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who sees it
Only the News Trial newsroom, through its editors’ panel. It is kept on our own server.
No e-mail is sent to you at the moment. The newsletter list waits until the newsletter starts.
Your choices
Sign out at any time from the account menu; that ends the sign-in on this browser.
Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes the reading history kept on your device.
Ask us to delete it
To see or delete what we hold about you, write to us from the e-mail address you used, or tell us the name and contact you gave on the form.
