University Student Killed as Bus Overturns After Collision with Truck; Highway Blocked

A student of the International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC) was killed after a mini-bus overturned and fell on her following a collision with a speeding truck in Sitakunda, Chattogram. Two other female students were injured in the incident.

The accident occurred at around 9:40 am on Tuesday (November 3), on the Dhaka Chattogram Highway, west of Dhalas Filling Station.

According to fellow students, three students were waiting beside the Dhaka bound lane to cross the road when a speeding truck struck a mini-bus in front of them. The impact caused the bus to overturn onto the students.

The deceased was identified as Maisha Musfirat, 20, a student of the English Department at IIUC. She died at the scene, while the two injured students were rescued and taken to hospital.

Following the incident, angry students blocked the Dhaka Chattogram Highway in protest. The identities of the injured students have not yet been confirmed.
